Pit-Fired Pot – Healaugh, Yorkshire
 
This handbuilt pot was pit-fired in Healaugh, Yorkshire using traditional methods. Buried in a pit with local natural materials – including sawdust, seaweed, straw and fruit peels – the firing process created unique smoke patterns and natural colour variations across the surface.
The organic firing means each pot is completely one-of-a-kind, with its own distinctive markings from the flames and smoke. No glazes were used - all colour comes directly from the natural materials during firing.
